Everyone should have a couple of watermelons at home when the fruit is in season. When someone visits, cutting up a watermelon and quickly throwing a wonderful, refreshing drink or snack together can impress and delight them.Check out the list of ten amazingly delicious watermelon recipes.
- Watermelon sorbet
Cut up watermelon into chunks and toss together with a cup of sugar and a pinch of salt.
Let the sweetened watermelon stand for a half hour. Then, throw it in a blender together with tomato juice and blend until smooth.
Add a little lemon juice, stir thoroughly and freeze. Ball up the frozen mixture with an ice cream scoop and serve in a glass bowl.
- Watermelon mint salad
Cube 2 pounds of watermelon and place on a plate.
Sprinkle shredded mint leaves, finely chopped onion, salt and black pepper on the pieces.
This salad goes well with grilled kebabs.
- Watermelon iced tea
Boil 8 cups of water and pour in a pitcher. Steep 8 teabags in the water. Once the teabags are spent, discard them and let the hot tea in the pitcher cool.
After a while, it should be ready to chill in the refrigerator. Right before you serve the iced tea, add a few chunks of watermelon to each glass, together with ice and basil.
- Minty watermelon slices
Take a large knife to a watermelon and make two-inch slices.
Quarter each slice into 4 wedges and array on a plate. Garnish these wedges with chopped mint leaves, lime zest and sugar.
Dribble lime juice on the wedges and serve.
- Melon mozzarella salad
You’ll need 3 types of melon: cantaloupe, watermelon and honeydew melon. Cube enough to fill 3 cups each and place in a large bowl.
Sprinkle chopped basil, 2 tablespoons of honey, jalapeno, salt and crumbled mozzarella over the fruit pieces. Toss well and serve.
- Watermelon cooler
You’ll need chilled seedless watermelon, limeade concentrate, fresh lime juice, ice and vodka.
Throw these ingredients in a blender and purée until you have a smooth mixture. You may need to add water.
Pour into tall glasses, mix in a touch of vodka and serve.
Watermelon doesn’t keep well at all once it’s turned into pulp. You need to make sure to serve this drink no more than a couple of minutes after you make it.
